For First-Year Move Out Information

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FORWARDING ADDRESS


Mail Forwarding is an option available to residents of the Harvard Yard Mail Center, the Upper Class Houses, Cronkhite Hall, the GSAS Mail Centers, and Vanderbilt Hall. When a resident leaves, whether temporarily or permanently, they may submit a forwarding order and their mail will be forwarded to an address of their choosing. Please note that if mail is being forwarded off-campus (which is most common), only First Class U.S. Mail can be forwarded. U.S. Standard Mail, Non-Profit Mail, magazines, and any parcels received through private carriers cannot be forwarded.

It is important that you update your shipping address with Amazon and any other online retailers because many parcels are not forwardable. Parcels that arrive on campus from private carriers such as AMZL, UPS, FedEx, etc. are not forwardable and will be returned to the sender.

BEFORE LEAVING THE YARD

 

  • Remove all personal furniture and belongings. Any non-Harvard furniture you wish to donate to Habitat for Humanity should be taken to the trash/recycling room. Large items should be taken to Habitat collection boxes by Boylston & Thayer/Canaday
  • Please take all your recycling, compost and trash, to the trash/recycling room for you building. Do not leave trash/recycling in your room, the hallway, or outside the building
  • leave your room in broom-swept or vacuumed condition
  • Empty and clean your MicroFridge, but leave it plugged in
  • Unplug your HEPA filter
  • Close and lock your windows

Key Return

  • If you are leaving prior to Saturday, November 21, or outside the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm, please drop off your key in the mail slot in the Yard Ops main office door in Weld Hall Basement.
  • If you are leaving on Saturday, November 21, or Sunday, November 22, between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm you should return your key to the dropbox in the Weld Hall lobby.

Moving trucks with the box section larger than 15 feet will not be allowed in the Yard.

Storage Pods, Store-to-Door and Door-to-Door storage trucks will not be allowed in the yard. Please use a different storage vendor.

YARD ACCESS INSTRUCTIONS AND PARKING IN THE YARD

You will be issued a Yard pass and map upon entrance to the Yard. Please limit your loading time to 20 minutes to allow for other students to have the opportunity to enter the Yard and move out. Please leave your hazard lights on while loading and do not park on the grass. Drive slowly and be aware of pedestrian traffic.  Parking attendants and security will be available to direct traffic.  Yard maps is below.
